About

Hi there, welcome to Captured by Alex. I am Alex Keuning, originally from the Netherlands, living in Switzerland since 2009 with my husband, three daughters and two cats. I have been studying Photography since the end of the nineties when I bought my first analogue Nikon DSLR. I started in Amsterdam at Fotogram, completing several basic, portrait and darkroom courses. After switching to Digital in 2006 I continued my education at Das Fotografie Institut Zürich in 2010 and in 2012 enrolling in courses at Viewfinder Center Zürich. Completing their Advanced Study Programme in 2016. I have since attended various specialised Pet Photography Courses: in the Netherlands with Sanne van den Berg and online in the US with Norah Levine, Julia Kelleher, Rachael McKenna, Arica Dorff and Vicky Taufer. In March 2018 I learnt more retouching skills from the lovely and very talented dog photographer Anne Geier in Austria. In April 2018 I attended the workshop Dogs in Action by Claudio Piccoli. They have all been a huge inspiration to me and guided me into creating my own style. In 2019 I attended an advanced Portrait course at Viewfinder Center, learning more portrait skills from Matt Anderson and Erwin Windmüller. Since 2021 I am a Student mentor at Viewfinder Mastery Accelerator course. Check out the free photography resources on their page.

If you are interested in buying prints or using pictures under licence, please send me an email. At the moment I don’t work on commission, due to other responsibilities.
